Sandgate Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in Queensland. In 1921, when the club was formed, it was the third golf club in the Brisbane area, preceded only by Brisbane and Royal Queensland. It is possibly the oldest remaining 9 hole course in Australia. Shorncliffe is also a great vantage point for the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race. The smell of the ocean, the Moreton Bay views, the lights of the Houghton Highway at night, the trawlers going out on their night journeys, the pelicans and wildlife, with an abundance of native flora and fauna, this golf course creates the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed social gathering. The Sandgate Golf Club is located within the Shorncliffe boundaries and is situated opposite the Yacht Club. Social play is available most days (please check the Social Play page on our website). We are happy to cater to the individual golfer or larger social bookings. We have a covered BBQ area available on request and also motorised carts for bookings. Our course has undergone a large amount of improvements over the last 10 years lending to a pleasant days outing with sea breezes to reduce the heat on a summers day. Social golf is available at very reasonable rates.
