Half Moon Bay Country Club was established in the beach suburb of Yorkeys Knob, less than 20 minutes form the centre of Cairns city in late 1969. From its inception it has been a members club for men and women on an equal basis. It has a uniquely tropical atmosphere around the course with its flowering trees, palms and numerous garden plots together with the golfers clubhouse. It nestles near Moon Creek which flows into Half Moon Bay and is overlooked by a landmark hill known as Yorkeys Knob but that is another story in itself. With its membership growing quickly some afternoons are regularly booked out with club competitions so the earlybird golfers have a good run around the course. The c
